Joshua Pope to fill in for Kingdom Heirs this summer

After my recent post about Lucas Case playing piano for the Kingdom Heirs, a reader of this blog checked with Steve French and found out that Case was filling in, and that 14-year-old piano prodigy Joshua Pope will be filling in for the summer while the Kingdom Heirs seek a permanent pianist.

If Roy Webb desires to stay in Southern Gospel but needs a few months off the road to deal with his father, this could be his chance. Of course, any of numerous other pianists would jump at the chance for this position, so chances are the Kingdom Heirs will come up with someone very good.

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. I don’t mean to be negative, but your comment about any of numerous pianists jumping at the chance for this position must not be totally accurate and actually made me laugh. Weeks have turned into months that this job has gone unfilled. Maybe you need to restate your comment that while there are numerous pianist that would jump at the chance to have this job, obviously those who would be considered as qualified are not knocking on Steve French’s door. This lends itself to yet another question entirely: why hasn’t a good quality pianist emerged to accept this position, either an unknown or somone from another group? I think that’s the real issue to ponder here, because the job’s been vacant for quite a while now.

  2. I must say that this is a great decision for the Kingdom Heirs. Joshua is a great pianist with a wonderful personality. He did a fantastic job filling in with the Dove Brothers a couple of years ago, and I’m sure he will do the same classy job with the Kingdom Heirs.

Hope to see you at Dollywood, Joshua!
