Giving Away LPs

9 Letters to the Editor

Southern Gospel Journal welcomes letters to the editor. We will post the most thoughtful and insightful submissions. Ground rules: Don't attack or belittle groups or fellow posters, or advance heresies rejected by orthodox Christianity. Do keep comments positive, constructive, and on topic.
  1. I’ll take:

Jesu, Priceless Treasure (The Northwestern College Concert Choir)

The Stranger of Galilee (The Mennonite Choral Hour)

Good Old Gospel Singing (Children’s Bible Hour Cousins)

Songs of Faith (Dee Dee Sharp)

Let Everybody Sing (Revivaltime Radio Choir)

    Sing (The Merediths)

Signs for the Harvest (Signs for the Harvest Singers)

8 Exciting Stories from the Bible

The King’s Chords (Friends Bible College and Academy)

Joy To The World (The Lordsmen Quartet)

    Gospel Sing (The Masters Family)

Sing the Old and the New (The Jubilee Three)

Jesus Use Me (The Dailey Trio)

    Piano Solos (Rudy Atwood)

even though my wife may not be overly excited about it. :D

  2. I have a few of Statesmen, Blackwood Brothers and Whitey Gleason and the Jubilee Quartet from the early 60′s. If anyone wants them…email misslou@verizon.net. Thanks

    • HI LOu,

I would love to have them.

      Ben Harris

  3. Dibs on:
“Virgil Warrens plays the Marimba & Xylophone”

Nah, not really. Just kidding!! :)

  4. Daniel, when my parents were downsizing, my mom gave me the task of sorting through her lp collection. The unwanted & duplicate titles we took to the Illinois Veterans Home for their library. The staff was so appreciative.
Instead of Goodwill, you might consider donating the albums to a local nursing home and/or library.
And…thanks, but no thanks. I inherited the bulk of Mom’s albums – and I still don’t have a turntable to play them on!
What year is that Baylor University choir album? David Phelps went to Baylor, you know! :) (He would’ve been there around 87-92?)

  5. Levi -they’re yours!

    Janet – more like 1958!

  6. FYI:
Ron and Barbara Dailey (members of the Dailey Trio LP – Jesus Use Me) were with the LeFevres for a short while. They recorded one LP with the LeFevres – The New Sound of the LeFevres.

  7. OK, I’m going to package the LPs for Levi and package the rest for Goodwill.

Levi, please email me your mailing address ASAP – I’m on the road first thing tomorrow. Thanks!
